Officially a Season 5 for ‘Jane The Virgin’

The CW has renewed 10 of its current series, the network announced and ‘Jane The Virgin’ is in !
“As The CW expands to a six-night, Sunday through Friday schedule next season, we are proud to have such a deep bench of great returning series for 2018-19,” said CW president Mark Pedowitz. “By picking these ten series up for next season, we have a terrific selection of programming to choose from when we set our fall schedule in May, with more still to come. And I’m especially happy that we’ll continue to work with the incredibly talented casts, producers, and writers who create the series our fans are so passionate about.”
The network announced back in February that they will launch a two-hour Sunday primetime block for the 2018-19 broadcast season, expanding its linear lineup of original programming from five nights a week to six. The “Jane the Virgin” renewal comes after series star Gina Rodriguez hinted that the show’s fifth season will be its last. The CW has yet to officially announce if the Golden Globe-winning series will continue beyond Season 5.

When speaking on the success of Jane the Virgin, Gina mentioned, “What is so amazing about Jane the Virgin isn’t JUST that Jane is a Latina, but she’s a woman.” Growing up, Gina noticed the lack of representation in the media and looked at it as an open opportunity to show what she can do in the industry. Reflecting on the success of the recent box office hit, Black Panther, she said moments of representation so powerful like this, prove that you can never tell us that we are not profitable. You can never tell us that people do not what “You can never tell us that we are not profitable. You can never tell us that people do not want to see our stories.”   source : createcultivate.com
